Blue Ridge Artist's Studio

It seems as though Barney keeps looking for an art studio. And, yes, he has already created a larger studio which will not be rented out :) Wonderful spaces are created only to be released to admiring guests. This very comfortable, peaceful hideaway is in what we call the Bull Barn. While this barn is still in re-model/re-purpose transition, this little apartment is a “find”. Around the corner from the farm's equipment bays, atop a flight of stairs, there is a unique space you will not want to leave.

An abundance of natural light with a view of the Blue Ridge Mountains through the large picture window, greets you. A cozy queen bedroom , quality bedding, 4 sleeping pillows, extra blanket, full bath with large shower, plush towels, family style toiletries, hair dryer. The studio has a full kitchen with a counter eating area/4 stools, fully supplied with dishes, pots/pans, glassware, microwave, full refrigerator; sitting area with a 3 cushion sofa & a wing-back chair. Coffee pot/'starter' coffee, teas, basic condiments. The hard wood floor is bamboo. Painting line the walls, of course, the last watercolors Barney painted before moving to acrylic. Wi-fi is available, phone reception is good.

 RATE: single/double occupancy + tax + $35 cleaning fee

2 night minimum no children, no pets  3 night minimum on holidays & special college events

Parking is approximately 100 feet away from studios.  Bring a good flashlight and comfy shoes.

The property has feral cats, a domestic cat, lots of the usual country critters, deer and pastured cows. Our guests need to be comfortable with the dark and quiet of a country setting. On many nights the Milky Way can be seen and more stars than you may have seen in a very long time. Fireflies flicker and hover over the ground and in the trees on warm summer nights.

If there is no event in The Lodge, our studio guests have use of the 65 ft vine covered pergola with small pond (base of an old silo) with water fountain & waterfall, a 3 tiered meditation garden, The Cozy (small pergola), a fire-pit (with burnable wood), a chiminea (with burnable wood), the Stone Garden and large umbrella-ed picnic tables.

This is not your hotel experience :) Come enjoy this beautiful unique setting and you may never again choose a hotel!
